Mayo Hegar needle holders are a good general use needle holder only and don’t offer combined scissors for those that prefer to use separate scissors when suturing. All our needle holders are available with Standard and Tungsten Carbide (T.C.) jaws. Standard jaws are serrated stainless steel which are perfectly suitable for general use. Tungsten Carbide jaws are a serrated insert on the jaws made from Tungsten Carbide, which offers the most grip on the needle and is very hard wearing and so will last longer. Tungsten Carbide instruments have a gold coloured handle to differentiate them from the standard instruments. Also for Castroviejo Needle holders with combined Scissors we offer a Supercut scissors option. Needle holders will eventually wear, which will result in the grips on the jaws becoming worn and flattened meaning less grip, or the scissors will become blunt.
